LES: SE friendly link exchange script system requirements
LES has been thoroughly tested on a wide range of high performance and low performance web servers located on many continents of the world and has performed extremely well across a wide range of web site hosts. Server Specifications and Operating System:
The following are very standard operating systems and libraries available on most, if not, all servers these days. If an operating system or library isn't available on your server contact your host who are generally more than happy to install a particular library if needed.
- Apache web server with Unix, Linux or Windows operating system.
- MySql database 3.23 or higher.
- PHP 4.3 or higher.
- GD Library 2.02 or higher to use optional CAPTCHA feature.
- Telnet or SSH access and crontab are not required but may be useful.
Editors and Software Utilities:
These are standard programs many people who have a web site would already have. Some form of text editor or HTML editor programs are usually included with your computer operating system or are available separately.
- Windows Notepad, NoteTab or similar text editor, or
- HTML editor (EG: FrontPage or similar).
- WS_FTP, CuteFTP or similar FTP program.
Personal Skills:
LES has been developed for ease of installation, customization and use. The following basic skills are required to successfully install, configure and customize LES. If you do not have the basic skills or time to install LES we do have an installation service available, although we do encourage you to install the program yourself as this will give you a very good insight on how LES operates.
- Basic Knowledge of setting file permissions on a web server.
- Basic knowledge of text file editing or HTML authoring.
- Basic knowledge of using FTP programs.
